Here’s how we approach it:
- Dedicated Ethics Instruction: In our BSIS courses (Baton, Firearms, and Weaponless Defense), we teach the legal and moral aspects of force. This includes extensive discussions on:
- Proportionality
- The Use of Force Continuum
- De-escalation vs. escalation
- Accountability and reporting
- Real-World Instructors: Our instructors bring decades of real-world law enforcement and military experience. They don’t just teach what the rules are—they share what it’s like to live those rules under pressure, and the consequences of getting it wrong.
- Scenario-Based Training: We believe that ethical decision-making needs to be practiced. Through hands-on drills, role-playing, and simulator training, students are challenged to apply ethics in real-time situations.
- Reinforcement Across Courses: Whether you're learning to handle a firearm, deploy a baton, or apply handcuffs, you’ll hear us emphasize: “Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should.” That mindset is at the heart of our training.
