Guardian Training Center at Fleet Week 2024: Honoring Our Military and Building Community Awareness

Fleet Week San Francisco is an exciting annual event that brings together military service members, veterans, and civilians to celebrate our nation’s armed forces. This year, Guardian Training Center (GTC) will proudly be part of the festivities on October 12-13 at Pier 30-32 for Fleet Fest—a family-friendly celebration filled with exciting activities and incredible sights. We are thrilled to participate and support our U.S. service members while also showcasing the unique training programs we offer.

Fleet Week San Francisco has a rich history dating back to 1981, serving as an opportunity for the city to honor the men and women of the U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard. The event highlights military traditions, the role of the military in our society, and our commitment to community and disaster relief. This year's Fleet Week promises to be more exciting than ever with awe-inspiring performances by the U.S. Navy Blue Angels, who will light up the sky with their jaw-dropping aerial maneuvers. The show will be held from October 11-14, and we highly recommend catching the display while you visit the GTC booth.

Among the highlights of Fleet Week is the Parade of Navy Ships, featuring vessels like the U.S.S. Tripoli, a U.S. Navy amphibious assault ship also known as a "mini carrier" for the Marine Corps. These ships play a critical role in defending our nation and will be open for tours during the event. It’s a rare opportunity to explore these colossal vessels and connect with the service members who keep them operational.

At Guardian Training Center, we are passionate about safety, preparedness, and service. We will be at Fleet Fest to honor the men and women who protect our freedoms and showcase GTC’s range of training programs designed for both civilians and professionals. Our offerings include BSIS programs, CCW training, and a variety of medical programs aimed at equipping individuals with life-saving skills. These programs are essential for anyone seeking to improve their personal safety, professional preparedness, or community leadership in critical situations.

Lt Col Grossman's book "On Killing"

One of the major highlights at the GTC booth will be the presence of Lt. Col. Dave Grossman, author of the renowned book On Killing: The Psychological Cost of Learning to Kill in War and Society. Grossman, an expert on the psychological impact of combat, will be meeting visitors and signing books during the event. His book is a must-read for anyone in law enforcement, the military, or interested in understanding the complexities of violence in society. Monty, our director at GTC, is a huge admirer of Grossman’s work, and this is a rare opportunity to meet such an influential figure.

Beyond our focus on honoring the military, Fleet Week is a fantastic opportunity for GTC to engage with the community and raise awareness about our programs. Whether you're a veteran, a first responder, or a civilian interested in learning vital life-saving skills, our booth will be a hub for information on medical preparedness, active shooter response training, and security education. We encourage anyone interested in protecting themselves or their loved ones to stop by, meet the team, and learn more about how the Guardian Training Center can serve you.

We can’t wait to meet everyone and celebrate Fleet Week together. Whether you’re coming to see the Blue Angels in action or to tour one of the Navy ships, be sure to stop by our booth at Pier 30-32 to say hello, honor our military heroes, and explore how you can get involved with the life-changing training programs we offer. Guardian Training Center Mobile Training Team (GTCMTT) is always ready to support the community, and Fleet Week is the perfect time to show our gratitude and commitment to service.
