Are stun guns legal in California?

Yes! Stun guns are legal for civilian use in California under California Penal Code § 22610, which allows law-abiding adults to purchase, possess, and carry a stun gun or Taser for self-defense.

However, certain restrictions apply. You CANNOT possess a stun gun if:
❌ You have been convicted of a felony or certain violent crimes
❌ You have a prior conviction for misuse of a stun gun
❌ You are addicted to any narcotic drug
❌ You are under 18 years old

Additionally, stun guns are prohibited in certain locations, including schools, government buildings, and airports.
